Behind the Blue Silk Curtain

Gerrard Joseph Henri

Born Sept 12, 1946  Toronto, Ontario

Died  April 26, 2014  Vancouver, British Columbia

A dedicated and talented blues musician, singer-songwriter Jerry Henri’s main instrument was the guitar with influences from Andres Segovia to Jimi Hendrix.   He also played the bass guitar, keyboards, drum machine on his musical works which he composed, recorded, mixed and mastered in his independent West Coast recording studio REDHOUSE RECORDING following his move from Toronto to the Sunshine Coast BC in 1989.

An analog man, believing in the warmth of sound captured on 1″ reel-to-reel tape, he self-engineered his work on a 24-track Soundcraft Spirit Board sculpting with stand alone digital tools to create master mixes  which he stored on ¼” reel-to-reel and Digital Audio Tape (DAT).  The recordings found in THE REDHOUSE EXPERIENCE COMPILATION are direct digital transfers of these master mixes from DAT to CD this past year with final mastering by James Raynor.

He recorded until the end of his life.  Some of his works remain on analog tape still, not yet transposed to digital.

Art and music bring beauty and meaning to a human being’s life:  this he sought to do.

Luminaries are stars in the sky – such a one was he.
